Alpha Bird

My adventure in illustration and design continues. As you may have read in a recent post, I’m taking a little break from photography this month to work on some non-digital designs. I just couldn’t stay away so I created this piece to send out in the mail. Well, next thing I knew, I had 128 new textures created in Illustrator and Photoshop! So much for staying away from digital!

In addition to creating this for the Mail Art 365 challenge, I’ve also created it for the Creative Every Day 2012 challenge. I made several colors in the alpha background that I’ll add to my freebies page soon.

See you tomorrow with another challenge! Stay warm and cuddly. It’s chilly here in Florida!

Moments That Take Our Breath Away

Boathouse Moments

“Moments that take our breath away” available in my etsy store.

My daughter turns three next month and as I write this, she’s sitting here playing a puzzle on my iPhone. We’re snuggled up in bed together keeping warm on this chilly Florida evening.

At this very moment, I’m taking in every single moment with Sophia. She is growing up so fast and right here, right now, I know this is a memory in the making that I’ll love forever. I created this piece of art for a greeting card but I’m going to print it on vintage card stock and send it out in the mail art challenge. It was an attempt at recreating some of the fond memories of the past when I spent calm and peaceful moments on the water.

Here’s to wishing you all a warm and toasty night!

Dressed Up Vintage

Don’t you just love finding old books for a quarter? I have a few and tear the pages out to create art on. This one came out surprisingly rich and subtle. It looks pretty in a grungy brown frame. I made this into a card to mail out for the Mail Art 365 challenge. It’s so gorgeous, I may put it up on etsy along with yesterday’s posted art!

Ladies on Beach Must Wear Bloomers

I’ve been in the second hand stores a lot lately looking for my next refinishing projects. I came home with “vintage” on my brain! While making some new textures, I thought I’d make a framed piece of vintage art for my cottage-style home by the beach. Simple but looks so awesome in a silver frame that I may throw it up on etsy!

Be true to you

Be True to You

Title: “Be true to you”

Created with torn pages from old book, magazine tears, textures and admarkers.

To ring in the new year, I’m participating in Mail Art 365 at IUOMA and the Creative Everyday 2012 challenge. One of my desires for 2012 is to create more artwork with hand created elements. As a photographic design artist, my work is created using Lightroom, Illustrator and Photoshop. I’m taking part in these challenges to push myself to work more with my hands to  incorporate handmade with digital design. This is my first attempt at it!

I’ll be mailing this out for the Mail Art 365 challenge. How exciting!

See you tomorrow. Happy new year!
