Repurposed “Black Beauty” Chair

I found an old brown chair that was tucked away in a corner at the local Hospice thrift store in Palm Coast. It was begging to be noticed and returned to the beauty that it once was so I snagged it up, took it home and turned it into “Black Beauty.”

When I first tore off the top layer of fabric, this is what I found…

Cushion Before Being Reupholstered

It was beyond disgusting! I ended up putting it in one of my showers and in rubber boots and shorts, I washed it until the MUD quit flowing out of it! Yes, that was an extreme way to go about it but I am over the top freaky about where stuff like this comes from and the germs that come with it!

Cushion Before Being Reupholstered

By the time the upholstery and pad had dried four days later, it was actually pretty… though old and destroyed beyond repair!

Repurposed "Black Beauty" Chair

I added cushioning followed by some pretty fabric I bought on Yardsellr.com. Then I cleaned, sanded and painted the chair.

I have such a hard time parting with the DIY treasures I create but I can’t keep everything! For now, it looks fabulous in my bedroom!

1894 Singer Sewing Machine

Today I’m stepping away from photographic art design to refinish this old Singer sewing machine that I acquired while living at the beach in Palm Coast.

According to its serial number which is listed on Singer’s website, it was manufactured in 1894. Originally, I thought it was originally manufactured in the 1900′s. Now I’m super thrilled to have found such a piece of history.

The black iron is beautiful as it is so I’m just refinishing the wood and applying a clear spray coat to the iron legs.

See you back soon with a photograph of the completed beauty!

By the way, to those of you who are thinking; “I wish I could do something like this!” YOU CAN! Just takes some prepping and cleaning, sanding, staining and a camera to take photos and show off your project! Go for it. If you don’t like how it turns out, just start over and try it again! I am addicted to this stuff!

{Now get get your butt to some estate sales, thrift stores and Craigslist! Then take a fun shopping trip to Lowe’s… ohhhh… I loooove Lowes!}

Vintage Singer Sewing Machine Refinished

I’ve just finished the stain on this gorgeous Singer sewing machine. It’s so beautiful. It needs a knob pulls on one of the front drawers but I am going to leave that for the buyer to do with as he or she pleases.

I wish I could keep this beauty but I have so many restoration projects to complete. I’ll need a five car garage for a workshop at the rate I’m going! I looooove DIY!

As of this morning, it’s available to purchase through my etsy store.

I have a dream…

Title: “Dream” by Kokabella

As I was unpacking and hanging wall art, I shot a photograph of this handmade porcelain charm and instagrammed it before polishing it off in Photoshop.

I printed it out on platinum paper and wow, it was so gorgeous, I am definitely going to add it to my store when it launches on etsy (without the watermark of course). The colors are vibrant and shiny!

Fergie’s New Fragrance {Video}

I just received a sample of the new fragrance by Fergie. It’s definitely “provocative” and “outspoken” is a great way to state its scent. Check out this video by Fergie, promoting her new sexy perfume! [Read more...]

Happy Silver Charms & Treasures Anniversary!

Today was my third anniversary. My husband’s en route home and I was feeling a little bluesy that we weren’t together today. Nothing that a little bling, bling can’t cure! After all, we can always change the date and go out on a little date after he gets back!

Today at Posh, I found this amazing, gorgeous, crazy cool brushed silver necklace. My eyes nearly popped out of my head and I almost tripped over myself getting to it! My husband knows that I drool over silver jewelry so it was only appropriate that I bite the bullet and get this one as an anniversary gift! (At least that’s what I’d convinced myself of!).

Ohhh… thank you babe! You couldn’t have picked a more loved gift!

The same jewelry dealer at Posh had this necklace and earring set there. The prices are seriously outrageous (in an awesome way!) so guess what else is new in my jewelry collection?! Stunning!

All in all, I came home with the two jewelry sets and two pairs of adorable shoes for less than what I can easily spend on skinny vanilla lattes in less than a month! I loooove Posh! It’s my favorite high end women’s consignment boutique. My closet is starting to look fabulous again and I can still afford my skinny vanilla lattes thanks to Posh of Fleming Island!

Don’t Think! Just Point and Shoot Day Three

Ohhhh… just days away until Travis gets home. Tomorrow is our third anniversary. I’m saving the date for when he gets back! Hey, it’s my anniversary so I reserve the right to change the celebration date! Sometime next week we’ll go out and cheer to making it through some pretty chaotic times in such a short time.

If you haven’t been following my blog this week, I’m taking shots of things in our new home and adding a little message to my husband so he has something to smile about as he patiently waits for his flights home from the middle east. It’s been a very frustrating experience without question.

I picked up this fabulous silver and glass candle holder and matching picture frame the other day for under ten bucks at Ross Dress For Less. Ya gotta love Ross! (A little plug for you, Jack!).

I encourage you to grab your point and shoot camera and go take a photo of something in your home or special space! Add an inspirational note or grab a photo marker and hand write something! I’d love to see so drop by and post it on my Facebook Fan Page. It’s so addictive, fun and creative! Use your imagination!
