Deceptively Delicious

I have been baking up some muffins for Sophia today. I don’t want to feed her preservative-packed snacks from the store.

When I lived in Europe and Australia, the shelves weren’t stocked with sugar-based cereals and snacks. Kids ate fresh fruit and veggies instead.

I bought Jessica Seinfeld’s “Deceptively Delicious” cookbook to learn to make meals and snacks from fruit and vegetable purées. (My daughter has never tasted jarred baby foods. I made her fresh purees instead).

Sophia isn’t a fussy eater. I’ll lay that out there right now. She isn’t likely the best child to experiment on! However, she didn’t hesitate when she first tasted them and seemed to chow down on them in good spirit!

The chocolate muffins actually have puréed cauliflower in them. What a great little recipe book full of tricky ways to incorporate power-packed fruits and veggies into a meal. I wouldn’t suggest this book only for kids. It’s a great recipe book for adults too and all the meals are very easy to prepare.
