Tree Bark Texture Art Freebie

The original shot didn’t come out very well but the texture and ants/holes were too interesting not to do something with it. Click on the image to download the high rez version for your creations.

It’s always fun seeing what other designers come up with when using my stock so please show me at either my Flickr page or just post a link here. Thanks!

Illustrations for Free Commercial Use

Image courtesy of Raine at DeviantART

Beautiful words that I love to see and hear; “free for commercial use.” Here’s a few great websites for really great design elements.

Be sure to read the terms for use and leave a comment to say thanks to the designer for the sweet treats! :-) I’ve added their Twitter links too.

DeadWingDesigns offers some really great vector designs that can be used for your commercial use with no attribution required including bar codes, grunge swirls, kaleidoscopes and abstract circles. Follow them on Twitter.

Rob Bowen & Angie Bowen from DeadWingDesigns also have a really great blog site offering free vectors and helpful advice for design community. Freebies are available for both commercial & personal use with no attribution required. Follow them on Twitter.

Who doesn’t love Smashing Magazine?! It’s the very best resource on the internet for the latest news and resources in tech, design and social media. The freebies are awesome, too! Follow them on Twitter.

WebDesignLedger.com has some awesome posts on free brushes, vectors and other dreamy design freebies. As stated on their website; “The Web Design Ledger is a publication written by web designers for web designers. The primary purpose of this site is to act as a platform for sharing web design related knowledge and resources.” Follow WDL on Twitter.

Of course, you could always create your own vector art. Here’s a great tutorial.

Friends of Design have some great video tutorials for designing with Adobe Illustrator.

Giveaway: Your Photo Turned into Art

Tomorrow is my birthday and I am feeling a tad bit generous so why not hold a contest and give some lucky winner an artistic creation from a photograph that they submit?!

The only hitch? It needs to be one that they shot, not a stock photo and they need to be a member of my Facebook page to enter because that’s where they’ll submit their photograph. I love having these little contests and I don’t post junk or spam people so it’s a win-win.

For more deadline and details, visit my Facebook page and retweet this if you wish!

Here’s some samples of what I’ve done with a few photographs…

Project Girlie Vintage Postcard Day 1 (Freebie)

I woke up at 5:30 am and must have been dreaming in pink! Good morning, Project Girlie! I felt inspired to create a vintage looking piece of art from some cute stock photos that I had started working on.

Check back after a few cups pots of coffee for what I’ve whipped up at Kokabella for you to snag this morning…

12:40 pm: Okay, after a busy morning with Sophia, I managed to brew this one up. Needless to say, I was feeling very PINK!

Click on the image below to download a 4″ x 6″ copy that can be printed and used for personal use. I will be adding this to my store in various colors and styles as a high quality print.

P.S. Not that into pink, hmm? Watch tomorrow, I’ll cook up a less “girlie” version for you to download! Pssst, now would be a great time to subscribe to my updates feed!

I love abstract art and the possibilities are endless. I created a somewhat abstract, water colored version and will use it at some point to use it as a layer with other photos. Stay tuned!
