Ohhhh my gosh. When the cat’s away, the mouse does play! I decided to start refinishing and painting some furnishings to make our new place look cozy instead of “store boughten and mass produced.”
I bought this overly lacquered 4-foot high mirror for $10 and borrowed a sander from my girlfriend’s husband. First tip… don’t sand in the house at midnight in the middle of winter and if you do, make sure you have a very good vacuum, a new air filter for your central heating system and good Lord, get a mask!! I did none of the above by the way. Thank GAWD that my husband wasn’t home or he’d likely be dead! Somehow the dog survived. I took this photo just after the stripping and sanding. I have still got to stain and seal it. Welcome to my new world of shabby chic… which basically means that it’s a style all your own and you can’t screw it up, so just have fun with it and call yourself “Miss Shabby!”
