What You Should Know About Dog Food

We feed our dog Flint River organic chow which costs less than the chow sold in retail stores and has no fillers and uses human grade ingredients. Although the bag itself costs more, our dog eats less than the daily requirements of a retail store chow (Iams, Nutro, Purina One, etc). The ingredients are wholesome and the clean up is way less. Not to mention that we are feeding our creatures the best possible quality available. For information on ordering Flint River, send me an email. It comes direct to your door via UPS.

I was forced to do a great deal of research after my Dalmatian developed a severe case of allergies. The vets recommended Science Diet’s prescription blend chow which was still not that great in quality and cost twice as much. After hours of research online and speaking to breeders and others also with dogs who had allergies, Flint River was the best match.

Within a few days of Hope eating Flint River’s Trout & Sweet Potato blend, her allergies (oozing of excessive wax from her ears, chewing feet, etc) disappeared. She has not required any ear drops since not to mention that she loves the flavor. We have way less clean up in the yard also.

Petland Linked to Puppy Mills

I have two dogs. Both came from breeders in which I did my homework on before purchasing. My Dalmatian came from a breeder that my previous Dal’s breeder knew; both bred strictly to better the breed and not to produce money-making puppies at Christmas. Yes, getting a puppy through such a breeder is nearly impossible as they are not producing puppies litter after litter. I waited almost 2 years for one of my Dalmatians. It’s no secret. I like to know the history of my dog, my dog’s parents, their parents and so on. On the other hand, there are SO many healthy and pleasant puppies and adult dogs waiting for new homes in shelters all over the country. Dropping an abundance of cash (sometimes more than a reputable breeder would charge for a fully papered pup) at Petland and these retail stores who in some cases, are buying their puppies from puppy mills is just not wise. If you do a quick search about puppy mills on google for example, I guarantee you’ll pass on ever considering a pet store puppy. Well, most will. I can’t speak for those who couldn’t care a less.

CBS did an awesome job on reporting Petland’s support of puppy mills by purchasing some of their puppies through these abusive puppy producers. Read the full article here and help prevent the horrible abuse of these puppy mill producers.
