One of my favorite little tools for years now, Color Palette Generator allows you to enter the url of a photo on the web which in turn gives you the color palette matching the photograph.

Try it out by going to the Color Palette Generator and entering the url of a photograph that you want to extract the colors from. It’s fun and great for coming up with great color schemes.

I just finished this piece for art class here at Santa Monica College. The objective was to design to a specific size with a specific number of colors, shapes and fonts. The shapes were not allowed to touch one another. There could not be any focus that the eye would be drawn to, yet there had to be a theme of the words used. The final submission had to be hand drawn and colored. I designed this in Adobe InDesign CS2 and traced it onto art paper using ad markers and a fine tip black marker.
