Today’s Treasure Find

I picked these up today from a lady who just wanted them out of her yard! They are solid and heavy. They were a bit worn, so I repainted them white right away. There’s several more pieces. I might even do a tea stain on a couple of the end tables and use them in my house.

The Shabby Chic Sewing Chair

I finished the sewing chair today. I painted it the dusty rose and then sanded it to give it that old look. I don’t know if I “love” it, but I like it enough to keep it for the time being. I found the pillows in Nashville at a second hand shop for a couple bucks. If you missed my blog on the chair before I finished it, here it is…

Shabby Table Is Done!

I finished the table today. The tea stain looks really nice on it. I doubt I will keep it however as it doesn’t really suit our living room. I’d like something rectangular and square. Give me time… I’ll find something to replace it with!

In case you missed my blog on what this table looked like before this, here it is…

Beautiful Old Side Table

I bought this marble top table for $15 this week. Can you believe that?!

The marble top that I’ve removed while sanding was made in Portugal. It’s really an amazing table. I am going to sand it down, give it a coat of paint and then tea stain it. Oh so shabby!

Table Sanding Has Begun

I started stripping this table yesterday, but the fumes from the stripping gel almost killed me! I let it dry and then sanded it down today. I’m not feeling the love with this table. It’s just not calling out for me to make it beautiful again! I’m throwing this table runner on it and calling it a day!

Shelves Are Now Done

What a great morning! I just finished sanding and painting the two matching shelves I bought for $12. I sanded off the ugly white paint that was chipping off on its own and applied a tea stain to it. They look really pretty and match the mirror that I was working on the other day. Now, to find another project to start today…

The Emerging Mirror

Ohhhh my gosh. When the cat’s away, the mouse does play! I decided to start refinishing and painting some furnishings to make our new place look cozy instead of “mass produced.”

I bought this overly lacquered 4-foot high mirror for $10 and borrowed a sander from my girlfriend’s husband. First tip… don’t sand in the house at midnight in the middle of winter and if you do, make sure you have a very good vacuum, a new air filter for your central heating system and good Lord, get a mask!! I did none of the above by the way. Thank goodness the dog survived through it all!

I took this photo just after the stripping and sanding. I have still got to stain and seal it. Welcome to my new world of shabby chic… which basically means that it’s a style all your own and you can’t screw it up, so just have fun with it and call yourself “Miss Shabby!”
