My Shabby Chic Retail Card Rack

I’m so over-the-top thrilled with how this $5 thrift shoppe find has turned out after sanding and painting it all “shabby chic!” It’s so much nicer than any industrial metal card rack. My cards are going to look absolutely fabulous displayed on it! Next step is adding my cards to it and displaying at a local retail store. It’s currently sitting upside down in this picture because I just finished painting it. Watch for more photos with my cards on it coming soon!

The sewing chair

Look what I picked up today for $10. It’s a lady’s sewing chair. It’s really cute. I think I might paint it a worn out dusty rose color and find some matching pillows for it. I can’t wait to get going on this one! It’ll be “oh so shabby chic!”

The Emerging Mirror

Ohhhh my gosh. When the cat’s away, the mouse does play! I decided to start refinishing and painting some furnishings to make our new place look cozy instead of “mass produced.”

I bought this overly lacquered 4-foot high mirror for $10 and borrowed a sander from my girlfriend’s husband. First tip… don’t sand in the house at midnight in the middle of winter and if you do, make sure you have a very good vacuum, a new air filter for your central heating system and good Lord, get a mask!! I did none of the above by the way. Thank goodness the dog survived through it all!

I took this photo just after the stripping and sanding. I have still got to stain and seal it. Welcome to my new world of shabby chic… which basically means that it’s a style all your own and you can’t screw it up, so just have fun with it and call yourself “Miss Shabby!”
