My daughter, the artist

At 13 months of age, my daughter has a knack for art! Give a girl some paint and paper and watch Picasso smile down from the heavens! How sweet is this?! ;-) It’s so gorgeous, I think I will have it printed on canvas! Ohhh, my little Sophia! (I’m not too proud!).

First year of being a mom

Today my precious little girl turned one. I fell in love with my special  little package of perfection all over again. It’s been a very special day that I feel so fortunate to share with our good friends and my father. How fast they do grow. I cherish every moment. It’s a blast to have each day to see her grow into her own little self. She has so much sweetness inside of her and a very big pocketful of personality! (We know where she got that!).

Natalie Michael – Feels Like Home to Me

Natalie and my daughter, Sophia
.
.I’d love for all of you to meet my girlfriend, Natalie Michael who wrote this song for her husband just before they got married. Natalie is married to my husband’s friend who is also in the army. It’s a beautiful song about her love for him and how she feels when he’s deployed. It’s a song that all military wives will relate to.
.

Natalie is an amazing young woman with tremendous kindness and spirit. She is unsigned at the moment and sings in her church music group. She and Jeremy live just outside Nashville, TN near Fort Campbell. I am blessed beyond words to have her in my life!.

Have a listen to her song. It will surely melt your heart!.

Keeping busy…. very busy

I woke up this morning and thought; “Wow, did I do all that I think I did last night or did I just dream it all up?!” Seriously, I think I am Superwoman after all that I did in such a short time. That’s what happens when you are trying your hardest to cure missing someone you love!

Who does this? Even Martha Stewart couldn’t touch this: steamed, pureed, cooled and stored two different all-natural veggie purees for Sophia, fed her dinner and gave her a bath, marinated, cooked, bagged and froze a dozen chicken breasts, chopped, marinated and froze a bunch of beef, vacuumed the house, mopped the kitchen floor, washed all my throw rugs, towels and bedding, searched online and purchased some labels for my greeting cards, caught up on writing feedback to the sellers I have bought from on ebay recently, played with Sophia for a bit, put her to bed and then cooked a huge pot of low-fat turkey & veggies mix.

By the time I got all that done, I watched a couple of DVR’d tv shows and put together a couple dozen photo greeting cards for an order. By the time I went to bed, I was still missing Travis, but it did make those 2 hours fly by!

Today, I am loving the hour I have while Sophia has her nap. You have no idea how valued that one hour is!

Sophia Has Arrived!

Sophia was born today!

Sophia Faith was born at 12:05 pm today weighing 7 lbs 12 oz. She is doing very well. I am groggy and tired from being in labor and delivery from 5:00 pm yesterday until noon today when the doctors performed the emergency c-section. Sophia is so amazing. Words cannot describe how I feel. It’s just such a miracle.

Please check out Sophia’s blog which will be updated with photos and video of her on a regular basis!
